THE ARTISTS

Adam Moore is a transdisciplinary artist from east London of Caribbean and European heritage involved in life’s healing transits, transitions and transformations.

Intensely experimental, he configures various processes of materialisation to speak in a range of artistic languages. Dancing is basic to his work, predating and permeating his formal education in contemporary, somatic and improvisational dance practices. Working with dance across architecture, ceramics, drawing, film, painting, sculpture, sound and writing he explores the intersectional discourses, technologies, and embodied explorations of sustainability, creating moments of synthesis peaking at multimedia performance and installation.

Applying embodied and transdisciplinary processes to post-studio and socially engaged contexts he examines emergent forms and their potential to amplify and transcend expressions of sustainability, healing open the closures between fragmented dimensions of life. He limns poetics and theories of sustainability through his work finding new alternatives and better ways of living, developing progressive thinking, and cultivating a more ecologically sound world; softening hardened institutions, stewarding life to thrive.

His social work with diverse groups across human rights, arts and culture non-profit and government welfare informs his approach to art making, collaboration and sustainability.

My artistic practice is centred on the exploration of human experience, both personal and collective. As an artist of Jamaican and Italian heritage, my works are deeply rooted in my multicultural upbringing in Italy and Newham east London, where I was exposed to diverse perspectives and worldviews.

Through my artistic expression, I aim to reflect the complexity and richness of cultural identity in both the natural and man-made landscape.

My vocabulary employs a vibrant and bold use of colour, pattern and silhouettes, reflecting the multi-faceted and dynamic experiences of our world.

Whether utilising printmaking and paint techniques, my artistic approach is always directed towards creating immersive experiences that resonate with the audience on a visceral level. My intent is to inspire a heightened appreciation for self and others, and to highlight the beauty and diversity of our shared existence.

My art started when I was about eight, copying pictures from The Beano and other comics. From then on, I could think of nothing except to be an artist.  There was no art tradition in my family (my dad was a bricklayer) or at my school. I went to Rochester Art College then into advertising then book illustration so I’ve spent most of my life in the commercial side of art. As to why I started my art practice I cannot imagine doing anything else. Brushes, paint, paper, canvas, ink, it’s a world I’ve always loved.

Throughout my illustrious career, which spans over 25 years, I have continuously strived to expand my creative boundaries and explore diverse artistic mediums. As a former teacher, I have nurtured a deep appreciation for the transformative power of art and the significant role it plays in shaping and uniting communities. My art practice encompasses a variety of media, allowing me to channel my vision through different means of expression.

At this present time, I find myself drawn to the realm of computer-based art. While some may view computers solely as tools, I see them as the contemporary equivalent of a paintbrush—a medium that empowers me to bring my artistic concepts to life. With digital tools at my disposal, I can seamlessly blend various elements, experiment with textures, and delve into the intricacies of colour and form. This approach allows me to create captivating and dynamic pieces that resonate with the theme of community, capturing the essence of the E6 area and the vibrant youth culture that thrives within it.

Marilyn J Fontaine is an East London-based mixed-media artist who creates magical, intense and witty narratives with mystical overtones. The theme of her work documents the feminine aspects integral to her journey and are heavily influenced by the rituals and practices of Indigenous cultures and the connection of healing using storytelling and nature. Marilyn’s work is often intense, witty, bold juxtaposed and ironic with strong cultural references and paradoxically an ethereal aesthetic as the artist feels strongly connected to nature, ritual, community, and the human experience.

Her work embodies esoteric and human cultural themes including human values and our connection and relationship to something greater. Marilyn’s work also can connect and engage the public, provoke discussion and create an inward dialogue due to the personal nature of her work.

Currently exploring figurative and larger-size work Marilyn is also planning to incorporate music. The use of materials such as fabric and acrylic resins, printmaking, and layering techniques will be used to combine Marilyn’s inward ethereal work with a more physical and tactile medium.

I am a fine artist who paints with both acrylic and oil.

My paintings may look like landscape and nature paintings, but there is more to it than that!

I take advantage of emotions that we feel in our lifetimes and connect them with the things we see from grief to ecstasy.

I am an aspiring artist and would love to connect with others in their zone.

Always exploring and always trying new things. I celebrate every day I gain another stamp in my passport of life. My old age and silver hair are the best gifts ever!

After pursuing theatre studies/ dramaturgy (with focus on semiotics), fine art and Nordic philology/ Germanic antiquity at university (LMU), I set sail for Blighty and settled in East London.

Always looking for the fable, always looking for media to tell a story, I went from theatre to film, from graphic design to animation (Ravensbourne). As a journalist, radio MC, programme manager, film maker, mom... it is always the content that fascinates me more than l'art pour l'art and I strive for inclusion and togetherness with the communities I meet.

I care about people and the wellbeing in our communities is in the centre of all of my efforts. I am passionate about social justice and protecting our eco systems. As a mother I have to answer to my children. Together with my three children I started a journey to follow the proceeding transformation of our living environment to work towards a liveable future.

I have worked, lived, and studied in Newham for the most part of my earlier life & I was born in Newham General Hospital.

I come from a very creative background, my entire immediate family have all worked in education but we all have a creative flair to us. Drawing and creating was natural to me from a very young age, I have enough journals to make a doll house. I have been very fortunate to be born to two, young at heart, supportive, black parents who literally fed my creative madness and never held me back.

Currently, I work in further education as a senior student achievement tutor with focus on mental health & wellbeing, safeguarding and tutoring in life skills, however, working with young people and creativity, have always been my two major passions.

Outside of the classroom, I am an artist & a creative. I do multiple things from art to making clothes. I started dancing when I was 3 years old and was classically trained before turning to “street dance” and then I was a backing dancer for 2 years. This is when I further fell in love with art & colour whilst having my makeup done in Hollywood for Jimmy Kimmel Live.

My organisation aims to highlight black art and, in the future, collaborate with at risk and vulnerable groups in a creative way. I am to bring forward the imagination, remind adults that they were children and to encourage children to hold onto their imaginations for as long as possible. TMCS will also be a safe place for education, encouragement, access & continued support.

I started painting in 2018 after a very bad car accident, my mental health was spiralling and I needed an outlet, which is when I started the Multicoloured Space. I have qualifications in teaching and accessing, psychosexual therapy and art therapy & I use these qualifications to nurture & inform my art. I am also dyslexic, so art really helps me to focus.

December 2022, was the first time that I went public with my work when I held my own private pop up shop. Since then, art is all I see! I have been so fortunate to meet some amazing people along the way and feel super supported and loved. I have attended events selling my art and more recently, my work was featured at Art in the Docks for the Artistic Change Leaders: sustainable art Community Day.

As a ceramic artist, I find that there is something incredibly captivating about the malleability of clay, and believe that it is the perfect material to convey the idea of transformation from ordinary to extraordinary.

Over the years, I have honed my craft in the art of sculpting, using clay to create both functional and decorative pieces that elevate the everyday.

The Phantomat cannot perceive reality as it is agreed upon because of his synesthesia and clairvoyance. The system through which most navigate reality is subversively used in his work as a tool to create art and charge perception with imagination. He performs and enacts among the borders of space/time and our sensory experiences. The objective is to download other realities while having the courage to produce beautiful art. The Phantomat grew up in Frankfurt and Costa Rica, and lived in Vienna before moving to London in 2012.

Venetta Nicole is a UK based artist, graphic designer and illustrator. She has 2:1 degree in Visual Communication design. As an artist Venetta created many bespoke pieces on commission to a wide range of clients which include the NHS. Her artist cv includes Sadlers Wells theatre, Janet’s List in Soho, being a finalist within the Hollybushprize and wining the Susan Angoy category at The Hollybush art Prize and exhibiting at the Lauderdale House Gallery.

Growing up in London and being well travelled has helped me to experience a range of cultures, colours and shapes. This has been important for me as an artist because it has preserved my imagination which I am to incorporate into my art works. I take a lot of inspiration from the world and cultures around me. I am inspired by the Abstract movement and expressionism. My interest in spoken word has also inspired my work. I would like to think this can be seen within my works. I am very interested in ‘communication’ and how this can be depicted within my art.

Venetta hopes to see her work internationally because she believes that her art works can resonate with viewers from overseas as well as the UK. Venetta would also love for her works to become fashion statements.
